The girls got to experience their first road trip last week..even though it was a mini one. We drove down to Portland to visit a couple of friends I went to a bible school with and to see their kids. The girls did so well on the drive down there. It took about 2 hours to get there and they slept the whole trip. They woke up just as we got off the freeway. They played really well with the other two kids ( a 2 yo and 1.5 yo). Well, as best at they could play. They basically did their own thing and watched the other two play.
I was really nervous about nap time there since I didn't really have a place for them to sleep. I didn't bother bringing the play pen since I knew neither of them would sleep in it. Plus it's kinda big. Natalie actually slept for at least an hour and a half in her car seat. She fell asleep in it about 5 mins after putting her in it. I carried her into a bedroom and she was zonked. Kaitlyn fell asleep on a bed in one of the guest rooms without hardly a fuss. She slept for about an hour. Both of them slept better there they they normally do at home! Go figure!
After nap time they played some more and before we left they ate their dinner and had their jammies on for the ride home. The ride home took longer. The traffic leaving P-town was still bad after 6pm, plus it was raining...plus I forgot I had a headlight out. I was kind of white knuckled the whole trip.
The girls slept most of the way home. They did wake up and were fussy by the time I pulled in the driveway. They ended up having one more bottle and playing a bit before going to bed.
Over all it was a good day trip. It was so nice to catch up (as much as we could with 4 kids running around). I hadn't seen them in years!
I had brought my camera, but never had an opportunity to take any pictures since my hands were full. Here is one my friend took of the girls and her daughter (the 4th kiddo was napping at the time)

Everything changes.
It is really overwhelming when I think about all the changes we've gone through in the last 14 months. Really since before we were married if you want to go that far back. Six months before we got hitched Hubby was hit by a drunk driver. It took three years of all kinds of treatment before we kind of got our life back. We then went through buying a house, then starting fertility treatments, then Hubby was getting sick pretty often. That all lead up to 2010. On New Year's Eve 2009 we were in the emergency room waiting for him to have emergency surgery to fix a perforation in his intestine. He had to have a follow up surgery 3 months later and then a hernia surgery a few months after that. All the while I'm pregnant with twins. The girls were born just before his final surgery, so that was a crazy time trying to allow him to heal while getting help from the grandma's to take care of the girls. Because of the surgeries and my pregnancy and maternity leave funds were SUPER low. We ended up losing the house to foreclosure. We just moved about a week ago and realized we could not keep our three pooches. I posted an ad on cra.igsl.ist on Saturday night, and by Sunday night two of them were at new homes. This evening the third went to a new home. I feel like I've been such an emotional wreck for so long dealing with all these "issues" I don't know what's it's like to get back to "normal". I know my normal is not the same as it used to be, but I just hope we can idle here for a little while and take a breather before the next curve ball gets thrown at us.
I know this blog isn't about me, but about the girls...so to stay on track...I'm just so thankful the girls are too young to know what's going on and be effected by all the changes. There was a short adjustment period for them when we moved, but they just go with the flow.
They are doing really well. They had their 9 month check-up today. Katie is weighing in at 19lbs and 30" long and in the 67th percentile. Natalie is 17lbs 28" and the 29th percentile. We had no real concerns to talk to the doc about and he seemed happy with their progress. Still no crawlers yet..but the should be any time now. And before you know it, their birthday will be here. Time flies...

We Finally Moved!!
I know it's been over a month since my last post, but we've been busy. We just got moved this last weekend, and we now have internet access again - yay! Along with the move, I started a new job about 3 weeks ago. It's totally flexible and more moolah! Woohoo!
The girls will be 9 months old on Saturday, I can't believe it! No crawlers yet, but they've both been close for a while, so it should happen anytime.
Natalie just got her first teeth about a week or so ago. She is the proud owner of two bottom - razor sharp - teeth! Still no sign of teeth for Kaitlyn yet, but that's ok. They have their 9-month check-up next Monday. I'm SUPER curious how much they weigh and how tall they are. Seems like they hit a growth spurt in January.
They love watching Finding Nemo. It's their favorite. It's so cute to watch them watch it, because they laugh at certain parts. It's so cute.
Well, I just wanted to give a quick update, since we finally moved. Hopefully, I'll be a better poster now :0)

We're still here!
Nothing new to report...the girls are doing well. Still hard to post often without internet at the house. Work keeps me working and it's hard to check-in. Hopefully this will all be different in about a month after we move. I'll post more pics then too :0)
I think I forgot to update you on the girl's weight check on the 6th. They both gained which is good. Natalie gained 2 lbs coming in at 15.5. Kaitlyn gained about a pound and a half. She's now 17. They go in for their 9 month appt (!!) on February 28.

7 months old!
I guess there is no point in apologizing all the time for not posting very often anymore, since it seems to happen every time. I probably wont' be consistently posting until after we move at the end of the month or next month.
The holidays were nice. The girls of course were clueless, but they did receive some nice gifts. Each grandma made the girls an ornament. I decided those would suffice as their "first Christmas" ornaments since I was having a heck of a time trying to find ones to buy for them. And, they are more meaningful than some store bought one anyway.
The girls turned 7 months old on the 26th. I can't believe we are only 5 months away from their first birthday already. Time did go really slow at first, and maybe the holidays helped a little, but now it's going super fast.
They are both doing push ups and sometimes trying to get up on their knees, so I'm sure crawling isn't too far away now. They both manage to scoot a little while on their bellies too. I can't seem to ever witness it, but they are definitely in a different spot sometimes when I turn around. Natalie constantly rolls from her back to her belly, then after a while gets tired and just cries. I don't know why she won't roll back. I roll her back and she flips back to her belly. Silly girl. Kaitlyn rolls from side to side the most. She will occasionally roll herself on her belly and will also roll to her back, but not nearly as often as Natalie.
We're bringing them both in to the doctor's office this week to get weighed. Natalie I think has really packed on the pounds, so we'll see how she measures up. We'll have Katie weighed too just because we're curious :0)
I decided they can just wait until their 9 month appointment to get the shot the nurse forgot. I'm still really bothered by that and will make sure we bring it up again while we're there. I also want to see if I can ask the doctor about trying to switch Katie back to regular formula. Since Similac had their recall on the tubs of soy a while back they have not gotten them back on the shelves. So we've been buying the premixed and the small cans of powder. It works out to about $200/month just for Katie. I'm thinking maybe her digestive system has matured since she was an infant and might be able to tolerate it now...hopefully...
Kaitlyn sat up by herself for the first time last night. I was bending down to put her in her bouncy seat and she didn't sit back. Finding Nemo was on and she just sat up and watched it for a long time. It was super cute. I got a lot of pictures. She also reached up for me too for the first time yesterday. Made me feel good :0)
Still no teeth for either of them, although I think Natalie is getting close. On the 23rd we went to see Santa and when we got home Natalie came down with a fever of 101*. It went away after she took a nap and kind of went up and down for the next day or so then she was back to normal. The only other thing during that time was that she was slightly congested, but no runny nose. I'm chalking it up to teething, but who knows.
I think that's about all the updates for now.
Happy New Year all!!!
